How to franchise your businessThings You Should Know When You Want To Franchise Your BusinessI have written articles about different franchises and have read about dozens of success stories on how small businesses grew into enormous franchises. I have distinguished some points of similarities that could be enlightening to those who wish to know how to franchise your business. Passion for the businessWe have heard this time and time again, but do we really understand what it means?
The first is, of course, building a business on something that you love. That is the easy part of it because we all have something that we are passionate about. Same way that a baker would put up a bakery and a teacher would put up a tutoring center. The second kind of passion is the hard part. Just because you built a business on something that you love doesn’t guarantee that it will be successful. All business has its ups and downs and you need to have the passion to put up with it all the way. How is this important when you are to franchise your business? It is crucial that you have that passion that can be felt through and through by your franchisees. If you don’t have that, what would you have to inspire them to grow the business with you? People who invest their life savings to franchise are not just after the business but it also becomes personal for them. Have the guts to take a riskEvery one of them who managed to franchise their business had to take a risk at some point, but how do you know your limits? It doesn’t mean that if you take a big risk, you will get a bigger return. You don’t even know if you will have a return and that is exactly why it’s called taking a risk. I cannot just pin point which risks you should take but what I can tell you is that when you weigh it up, the probability of loss should still be less than the probability of winning. It is not called taking a risk if you were sure about what is going to happen in the end. None of these small businesses grew without having to take that big leap but it doesn’t mean that you should take any risk that presents itself to you. There is such a thing as a calculated risk. Those are the ones that have chances of losing butthat are much more likely to have chances of becoming successful . Become a people personThese businessmen and women are not all about business when they started. Like previously mentioned, it all starts with a passion. Not all of those bakers are really trained or completely knowledgeable in running a business. You may ask how these people are able to get business coming in to their doors. Most of them started out with just a couple or even no employees. They have the skill in relating with others and that is how people are drawn in. You go in to this pastry shop and the pastries were good but the employees were such snobs. It is important that you make a connection with your customers and that goes the same with your franchisees. Even more, these people are treated like family. The relationship you build with them is what makes or breaks your growing business. You have to remember that they are an essential part of every step that you take in developing your business. I said developing because as you grow your business with them, you make changes through their own contributions that would benefit the business as a whole. There are a lot of things that you need to consider in franchising your business but before that, you should take time to assess yourself if you have these three key things and know if franchising your business is the right move for you. |
