William initially invested $5,000 to deliver food meals to people in the outskirts of Boston, Massachusetts. Because of its success, he opened the “Open Kettle”. And with that concept, he opened the fist Dunkin’ Donuts in Quincy, Massachusetts. He began franchising it in 1963. In 1979, there were more than 1000 locations nationwide. They now have about 8,000 locations in 31 countries and 6,400 of it is in North America. Dunkin’ Donuts is under the Dunkin’ Brand together with Baskin Robbins. They started with just having to compete with Krispy Kreme and Tim Hortons, but now, they are also competing coffee with Starbucks.

For the food, they have the Bagel Twists which is in Cheddar Cheese, Chocolate Chip and Cinnamon Raisin. Their bagel comes in 12 types including Blueberry, Multigrain, and Sour Cream and Onion. Big N’ Toasty Breakfast Sandwich can be customized up to how big and thick you want it to be with egg, toast, and meat. Breakfast Sandwiches can also be customized with egg, choice of meat like bacon, ham, and sausage, and choice of bagel, croissant, biscuit, English muffin, or wheat English muffin. They also have different types of cookies, danishes, muffins, fritters, sandwiches, wake-up wraps, and hash browns. The Munchkins were invented by one of the franchisers in the 1950’s. His name is Larry DelVerne. Its flavours are based from their famous donut flavours.
